Research Interests: The transnational 1960s and 1970s, art circuits in Latin America with an emphasis on Brazil, media practices in art and art history
Sonia de Laforcade is a Ph.D. candidate in modern and contemporary art, with a special interest in Brazil and Latin America. She is developing a dissertation on the projected image in the 1970s, focusing on the slide and film work of Brazilian artists, critics, and poets.
Sonia recently co-organized a yearlong series of workshops and a spring panel discussion, collectively titled The Matter of Writing L, which explored experimental modes of scholarly writing about art. Before coming to Princeton, Sonia earned a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and worked as a research assistant for the forthcoming Paul Cézanne catalogue raisonné.
