
Research Interests: Foreign policies of Latin America, its regional institutions, and human rights at the intersection of domestic and international politics.
María José specializes in International Relations and Comparative Politics, with a regional focus on Latin America. She holds a master’s degree in Politics from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). María José graduated from ITAM with highest honors, and was awarded the Alumni Research Award for her senior thesis on the progress of human rights agendas in the Inter-American System. She was a Fulbright-García Robles scholar from 2018 to 2021.
María José’s research interests include the foreign policies of Latin America, its regional institutions, and human rights at the intersection of domestic and international politics, especially in the context of the Inter-American Human Rights System.
