Manuel Clavell Carrasquillo

Bio/Description

Manuel Clavell Carrasquillo is Lecturer in the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico, where he teaches Ethics and Communication, Advanced Spanish Composition and Spanish Speech and Oral Communication. He also works as a lawyer and independent journalist. Clavell studied Political Sciences, Comparative Literature and Law in the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where he completed his Juris Doctor in 2006. His literary reviews and cultural chronicles have been published widely in several Puerto Rican newspapers, magazines and blogs such as El Nuevo Día, Primera Hora, Metro, Diálogo, 80grados and Estruendomudo, among many others. He is the author of the book Dragas: Performeros de Género en Puerto Rico. His VISAPUR research project focuses on the intersections of photography and the chronicle in the digital age. Clavell will be at PLAS from August 1 to 15, 2018.
