Bio/Description

Luz Victoria Simón Jasso is a Senior in the Department of Sociology, pursuing certificates in Latin American Studies and Spanish. Last Summer, Luz Victoria participated in the Global Seminar Program in Chile, where she took a course on Chilean politics since the military coup of 1973, focusing on responses to censorship and repression by artists and writers. Luz Victoria has continued to engage in seminars that critically consider the role of democracy, neoliberal movements, immigration, and violence in Latin American countries. These topics will inform her Senior Thesis research.
