Bio/Description

JAVIER RODRIGUEZ WEBER (Ph.D., Universidad de la República). Rodriguez Weber is an associate professor of social and economic history at the Universidad de la República. His research focuses on the study of economic development, in particular the relationship between growth and inequality. He has authored and co-authored numerous books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles and has a forthcoming book, La economía política de la desigualdad de ingreso en Chile, 1850-2009, Montevideo, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales (UDELAR). While at Princeton, Rodriguez Weber will work on a research project that will look at inequality, development and populism in Latin America between 1920 and 1980 in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico from a comparative perspective.
