Bio/Description

Agustín Díez Fischer (Ph.D., University of Buenos Aires) Díez Fischer is an assistant professor of art history at the University of Buenos Aires. Diez Fischer’s research interests include modern and contemporary art of Latin America, political history of the 20th century, performance art, and archival theory. He is also director of the Centro de Estudios Espigas (Espigas Research Center) in Buenos Aires, an archive affiliated with the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and the Espigas Foundation that holds the largest collection of research materials on Argentine art. He has curated various exhibitions, among them The Words of Others: León Ferrari and Rhetoric in Times of War along with Ruth Estévez and Miguel López for the Getty Foundation's Pacific Standard Time LA/LA. In addition, Diez Fischer also directed the museographic research project at the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) from 2015 to 2017. While at Princeton, Diez Fischer will work on a research project that analyzes the Latin American connection with The Drama Review (TDR) and Richard Schechner’s theories during the 1960s and 70s.
