Joyce Hyojin Lee

Joyce Hyojin Lee is a senior concentrating in Chemistry. A love of
languages has led her to also pursue a certificate in Roman Language and
Culture from the Classics Department and study the Spanish language and
culture with the Spanish and Portuguese Department. In the summer of
2019, she participated in Princeton in Argentina, a six-week language
and culture program under the Spanish and Portuguese Department. The
program, centered in Buenos Aires, surveyed a vast range of Argentine
history, culture, and politics. Many of the themes, such as immigration,
economic inequality, and feminist movements, instigated lasting
connections to Hyojin's life in Princeton, where she is a project leader
for ESL El Centro, a volunteer program of English-as-a-Second-Language
classes in Trenton, and a research assistant at the Eviction Lab, which
is constructing a national database of eviction.
